I am building a new home

[All Tips]

Why should I choose Fenplast windows and doors for my new home project?

Your main goals when building a house are probably to enjoy many years of pleasure, comfort and low-maintenance. Fenplast designs and manufactures windows and doors with exactly the same goals in mind.

What are your delivery time?

Delivery time is established when ordering (exceptions occur), according to our pre-defined delivery route for your region. We can deliver windows ans doors on expedited basis, upon request, if our production capabilities allow it.

What is the difference between fake mullions and true divided lite (TDL)?

The fake mullions are essentially a PVC piece glued on the glass with a special adhesive tape, specific for that application, directly on the glass. You can choose between an exterior mullion or one on each side of the glass. The addition of an integrated muntin bar that is aligned with the mullion greatly improves the esthetic aspect of the windows and doors set. The division gives a thickness of 13/16”, 1 1/8″ and 1 5/8″.

Using a true divided lite, for the casement window only, the sash is split in two distinctive parts with two (or more) distinct sealed units. This simplifies the replacement of the sealed unit in a case of breakage or unsealing. The mullion gives a thickness of 2″.

Do you have standard sizes?

Each order is custom manufactured according to your specific requirements. You will find in this document the different standard sizes of windows that we make. These measurements are basically levels that correspond to the price increments on the price list. Therefore, they provide more light for a given price.

I am not planning to use any brick on my new home, but your dealer insists on adding brick moulding to all of the windows?

Adding a brick moulding to the window allows your window to be closer to the “warmer” side of the wall, doing so, it increases the energetic capacity of the window.

The brick moulding can also serve as a receptacle to an outside siding; the side part of the brick can be torn out, allowing a siding of no more than 5/8″ to be inserted (take overlapping into consideration), rending obsolete the use of J-channels. Please also note that the top part must be left untouched and a drip cap must be installed, in accordance with the National building code.

What is the ER rating?

The energy rating (ER) is based on several factors, including the U value* and air-tightness.

The ER value establishes the energy efficiency required for the ENERGY STAR® certification of a product for a given climate zone. The higher the ER value, the more a product is energy-efficient. Therefore, it makes it easier to compare and choose between the different window products based on the best energy efficiency.

*U value : Non-solar heat gain or loss coefficient. The U value measures the heat transfer rate. The lower the U value, the more a window is insulated and the better its energy efficiency. It is expressed in W/m2K.
