A Water Rating of DP 100!

In our recent television commercial, in its presentation of the new CaloPatio© sliding door, Fenplast Sales representative mentioned “... with a water rating of DP 100”, but what exactly does that mean?

With the new harmonized standard in Canada and the United States, door and window manufacturers will move performance specification from the former CSA A-440-00 standard, known for its A- B- C ratings, to a new standard that will provide a DP rating for each testing element (A = air infiltration, B = water infiltration and C wind load resistance).

Under the previous system, sliding doors were limited to a B-4 rating (equivalent to DP 55) for water infiltration. Moreover, few systems can reach this level.

Given its revolutionary design and watertightness system based not only on threshold height (as in the previous systems), but on a virtually impenetrable interior barrier along the perimeter of the moving panel, the CaloPatio© sliding door has a 730 Pa (15 psi) level, which is beyond the DP 100 standard. According to the A-440 standard, this even exceeds the B-7 level!

This in-lab performance explains why, when the elements beat down on your CaloPatio© sliding door, your home and property will be well protected.

N.B.:  Some people have asked the question about which side the mobile panel for the CaloPatio© sliding door is located, since, in the TV ad, the "salesperson" handles the painted side (outside) of the door. This decision was made as part of the designer’s artistic vision, since the painted side is visually more interesting than the white side (inside). Therefore, have no fear, the mobile sash of the CaloPatio© is still inside the house.
