As of October 1, 2026, the Rénoclimat program offers new terms to support energy-efficient renovations in Québec. For homeowners planning to replace their windows and patio doors, several important changes are worth noting, including increased financial assistance of up to $300 per eligible window.

Financial assistance of up to $300 per window Under the new Rénoclimat – Energy Efficiency program, eligible homeowners can receive $300 per replacement window, up to a maximum of $4,500 for a house or $6,000 for a duplex, triplex or multi-unit residential building. To qualify for this assistance, windows and patio doors must meet the ENERGY STAR Most Efficient criteria. Replacing exterior doors is no longer eligible for financial assistance under this new program. Financial assistance remains subject to the program’s eligibility requirements. Be sure to verify that your products and renovation work qualify before starting your project. A simpler process for your renovation project The Rénoclimat program has also been revised to simplify the process for homeowners looking to improve their home’s energy efficiency. Here are the main changes that took effect on October 1, 2026:

• Pre-renovation energy evaluation: No longer mandatory but still recommended to help identify improvements that could be made to your home. Financial assistance of up to $500 is available for this evaluation, subject to the applicable conditions.
• Renovation work: Must be carried out by a contractor holding the appropriate licences.
• Financial assistance application: Must be submitted through the new Rénoclimat portal, along with the required supporting documents, within 12 months of completing the work. The program also continues to support other energy-efficiency improvements, including insulation upgrades for roofs, exterior walls and foundations.

Already enrolled in the program before October 1?

A transition period is available to homeowners who began participating in Rénoclimat before October 1, 2026. They may complete the process under the previous program terms, subject to the applicable conditions. To qualify for financial assistance under these terms, the post-renovation energy evaluation must be completed by March 31, 2027. Specific rules apply to work carried out during the transition period. Visit the Government of Québec website to find out which conditions apply to your situation. Make the most of your renovation project Replacing your windows and patio doors can help improve your home’s comfort, reduce heat loss and enhance its energy performance. Planning a renovation?
